I can not believe it is October. Covid has made time move at warp speed for me. And while I adore summer and long days, my absolute favorite season is fall. Both my girls are October babies, one’s turning 12 and the other 14, WHAT? The leaves change, the air crisps up, even in non-Covid times, bonfires are frequent occurrences and it’s finally cool enough to wear boots and sweaters, my all time fave attire.
But enough about me and fall, let’s talk tech and new home sales – one of them is 🎶feeling good, like they should 🎼(you’re welcome for the weekend earworm); the other isn’t.
But seriously, there was a lot of talk this week about the housing market and its growth. I even found a Forbes article that discussed the housing boom in Britain. Here in the US, new home sales grew just over 4% from July and over 43% from August of 2019. This is the highest sales pace since September of 2006. The even better news is that this shows no signs of stopping for YEARS to come! I’ll take it. Anecdotally to corroborate the info in that last article, homes in my little neighborhood have been selling for more than 25% more than what they sold for in the Fall of 2019.
In the land of tech, Google’s gonna get sued and Facebook is taking away it’s 28-day attribution model. Womp Womp.
For Google, the Justice Department is rallying the States Attorneys General to get on board with the suit. The suit revolves around advertising data and some of their search advertising practices.
The pesky data problem is also why Facebook will now only provide a 7-day attribution window. This is because of the previously covered changes to tracking that many browsers are implementing. Nevertheless we marketers will persist and continue to make use of as much data as is available to find our target audience.
As a self proclaimed internet bargain hunting junkie, I find it my personal obligation to alert you that Amazon Prime Days are coming back on October 13 and 14. May the odds be ever in your favor in your efforts to procure steeply discounted items.
That’s all for this week. Enjoy the weekend and I’ll see you next week!
